In 2012 officially weighed at topsfield fair in ma was one (1) pumpkin weighing 2,009 pounds grown - a new world record. This past season there was forty eight (48) pumpkins weighed 2,000 lb and up and, a 2,009 lb pumpkin would be at the end of that listing. That's success Genetics are continuing to GET BETTER AND BETTER giving more growers a chance for this 2k honor. So, my question is this. What are you prepared to do next season that will give you that winning edge? greenhouse?- better care?- feeding /watering program?- better seeds?- new location/rotation? What will you do to get your first 2,000 pound pumpkin? Pap

I'm gonna partner up with a beginner and steal their "beginners luck" ha ha. Good seed, good soil, and good luck. I learned from tissue testing we weren't feeding enough, and that was helpful info. After correcting this, I think it helped the pumpkin go quite heavy to chart. Good seed, good soil, good luck... and good info? :)

3000 lbs is within reach...., and add good weather to the mix, and prepare for mitigation when good weather is bad weather. The 7 P's > Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

Deep tilling to get more O2 in the soil for bacteria, adding drip irrigation feeding. Adding some misters for hot weather.

AC in Kansas Jake!! Now I'm impressed and can't wait to see what you do next year keeping things cooler!
For some reason I thought you already had some type of cooling in your greenhouse?

I will time my tissue tests better so I don't get low on anything. I will do a pre pollination test and at day 30 right at when they start to put big gains on, then do my last one around early August.

Lucky enough to plant a "silver bullet" seed of the millions out there today! And oh Mother Nature is in a good mood during the growing season.

Turn over 1000 square feet of patch by hand with a fork....that's dedication, or pure crazy. 😁
