97pounder!

Centennial Colorado

Hi all,
I am growing a 1409.5 miller this year with my friend as a team grow. I am wondering what the record is for largest fruit grown off of a 10+ year old seed?
Thanks,
Leif

As far as I know the largest fruit produced on a 10+ year old seed was the 2009 Wallace off the 1725 Harp.

If you hit 2k on a 10+ year old seed that will be a grand achievement. I think the 1409.5 is a good one to try.

The 1725 was only 3 years out when the 2009 was grown, I think he's asking what the record on an elderly seed at any time was.

That's an interesting question, probably not many germinate that old in the first place.

I dont have an answer if that's the question. Very few growers ever reach that far back into their stashes. I can't think of any above 1000 lbs anyhow.

It took 4 to start and this is the only one that sprouted. Around 750 right now growing about 15 per day. Peaked at 30 a day.

Brett Cooper won our old seed contest a couple years ago with I believe a 595lber grown on a pretty small plant. Estimated weight was over 700lbs.

I grew a 1003 pound squash in 2010 using a 895.5 Hester (2000). As far as I know, it was the only 1,000 pounder grown off of the 895.5. Ironically, the 895.5 was grown off of a 6 year old seed, 900.5 Lyons.
