Wondering what the consensus of opinion is?
I have a DAP 14 AG about basketball size and a backup 4 nodes later about tennis ball size. Am I safe yet to cull the backup?

Wait til day 20 I've had them stop at day 19

If its still growing good then go ahead and cut the backup

Yeah, I usually wait till day 20 also before the final cut is made.

I dont know but I had a plant that kept growing them to football size then they'd explode. Each one looked so promising. It blew up 5 pumpkins before it set one. I've also lost them at basketball size and 5 gallon bucket size but fortunately not larger than that.

I would wait till day 20. And it is still stressful, I was in the same situation last year and cut the backup. The next morning the "keeper" looked like Pac Man.

If you are growing for competition make that decision early. I try to never have 2 on a plant at any one time unless there’s a question of shape on the first one. I’ll snap that one off before I pollinate the next one. That’s also why I need multiple plants.

I like to leave the second one on till ive got the older one turned into that perpendicular position.Thats usually about day 18.By then the second one may be aborting.

Too many "what ifs", I wait until day 15 at a minimum, and prefer day 20. I have 2 plants at most, so can't waste a plant by culling too early.

Thank you all for your comments & advice. Today is DAP 20 and fruit is growing well, whereas the backup has barely moved, so decision is made, and backup culled.
