Tonight I did a drench of bio advanced tree and shrub systemic insecticide. How often should I be applying this? It says 12 month protection. Which I know is probably not true. Any input would be great.

Thank you!

Read the label, and then read the label. I Googled it and saw that it has twice the active ingredient as it did before and is effective for 12 months on trees on the listed insects. Could not get a glimpse of the ingredients.

What might you have been trying to eradicate or prevent? Why 'Tree and Shrub'? If it were squash bugs and/or cucumber beetles (and I don't know about Squash Vine Borer moths or larvae), you'd want I believe the same brand but 'BioAdvanced Complete Insect Killer' with Imidacloprid and Bifluthrin (I'll not go check it again, lol) - I think it's about $12 for about a 24 oz. bottle, mixed and applied PER the directions and your plants would be a no-fly, no-beetle nor bug zone overnight. 1 TBSP. per GALLON of water and apply to the entire plant with a watering jug although systemic and you're done for a week or 2 or until your plant is large enough to have outgrown this recent treatment.

OOPs, too late, in re-reading, lol---

Any open flowers will KILL BEES(!!!) and with all that ingredient going on...
I wish there were a selective insecticide or Bug Killer-Ready species of bees anymore;

Sorry to be so condescending and your main vine looks fine to ME - My belief is that pumpkin plants are an upward-vining type and the only reason they vine along the ground is because of the weight of the vine itself; The mechanism in the main vine TIP is such that it is easy for the plant to grow OVER anything in its weigh on its way to wherever it can get to by the time the season is over.
Good Luck with it all---Other Eric

I've used low dosages every couple of weeks to keep the insecticide in the vascular system. Each drench is pushed out to the growing tips. Later in the season when the plant is terminated not as often usually in the sprays.

Always read the label to find out what the active ingredients are and what the concentrations are. BioAdvanced keeps changing things. For example, Complete Insect Killer granules contain Imidacloprid but not the liquid or the concentrate. Tree and shrub labels are for treating trees and shrubs, not giant pumpkins. Most growers reapply through the season.

Check out the following thread for application rates. You may have to do a little math to adjust for differences in concentration.
