On a cliff in the desert

What kind of soil would work best for growing gi? In the past I've grown them in pots with Miracle Grow soil. This year I have a spot where I took down a shed and want to grow peppers there. Would pumpkin soil work or is there something else I would use?

Pumpkin soil should work really well.
