We just received notice from our CFIA (Canada's Food Inspection Agency) that a few of our mail orders were destroyed in UK. This is a first for us in 40 years sending pumpkin seeds to UK. They now require a phyto for each order which is basically impractical due to the time and costs, especially when most orders are only for a few seeds! So much for "Free Trade"??? Everything today is getting tapped for fees and regulated to no end! Very unfortunate and disappointing. I sent my 2 cents worth to the CFIA. Danny Dill

Sorry about that Danny, I feel for you. 40 years and now they want this for a couple seeds,,, this is just a little hint of where our country is at the moment.
We'll make it through but it might be awhile.... I'm a painting contractor and just in the last 3 months I'm paying out over 2K a month in new bills I didn't have last year.. I'm a small contractor too,,, amounts of money like this really hurt my family.
Good luck on the seeds and this situation.

Furthermore each country has their own import requirements and certain tests that need to be performed on each particular species of seeds. Some countries we do not even bother with anymore just too painful.

Sorry to tell, but these restrictions are not new, Small amounts of seeds have been traded "below radar" for a long time... Customs and postal authorities have just changed to more law-abiding work.

Udo thank you for your updates, I certainly know it is "not new" with some countries as we have dealt with many around the world over the years. I am referring to the UK. Even our Canadian officials seemed caught off guard after I have been in touch to get more clarifications. I am happy to report the costs to get a phyto for the UK for small orders is very reasonable so hopefully we can get back on track again. Also it is no secret that many nations end up having trade disputes with the political landscapes/agendas always changing and many businesses innocently get caught in the middle and hit with new fees rules and regulations. Better times ahead especially today...first day of Spring!
