Dead and gone. This picture was taken about 11:00 in the morning. By 3:00 pm the entire plant was flat on the ground. The plant in the background is the backup plant, the 558 Little. I had high hopes for the 838.5 Bottorf 2005. It is the current Missouri record holder, grown in a very hot and dry year. The main on the 838.5 plant is 4'10". The 558 is growing very well so far. It is smaller because it did not have the benefit of a cloche. It has received a drench of Aliette.
