Garlics soil covered with straw as well. This year I planted five varieties. Morado de Cuenca from Spain, strong hot and tasty Spanish garlic, Rose de Lautrec, big heads with wonderful smelly from the South of France (I brought them there), Elephant garlic, with its 4-5 monster gloves, which really is a leek, and Georgian Fire and Rumanian red, which I bought last summer in the Okanogan Valley, WA. As this year is coming I presume no watering will be needed.
