...do you lose hope on a seed germinating? I can't get my 1575 Stevens to pop and it's been 6 days... This is the first seed I've ever had, practice or otherwise that hasn't germed and I'm bummed. I'm using a Hydrofarm grow chamber with thermostat at 88°. The probe was in that peat pot also. Everything else in the chamber was up within 72 hrs. Should I throw in the towel on this one? I pulled the seed and it's swollen, but no root so I put it back. Thanks for any input!

i usually give a good seed 10 days... some will take that long,, but just my way,,

You can give the seed a lil squeeZe..if it spewZ a stinky goo...then itZ rotted...and you have your answer....

I would start some backups and give it a few more dayZ but it doesnt look good since this is a newer seed...SometimeZ PLAN B workZ better....

I think the 1575 has been a little tough to germinate so I hear. As Wiz said, give it a gentle squeeze and see if anything comes out the tip that smells. If it does, it is done. Both my 1560 Urena's took forever to germinate but both just started pushing dirt today, albeit slow, after 6 days.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Good news is that it's solid as a rock. I guess I will have to be patient and see what happens. I am going to start a backup though...

The 1575 is the only seed i haven't gotten to germinate yet. Mine was really thick. I am going on 9 days now. I checked it on day 6 and it looked fine so i am giving it more moisture and a little more heat. Not really expecting much though.

my 1575 sprouted last using the wet paper towel method but it still sprouted in 23 hours at 90 degrees. all my seeds sprouted between 19-23 hours, with the 1634 in at 19 hours and the freak in at 22. hopefully they are up out of the peat pots in a day or 2.

after 4 days i start poking around lightly. after 5-6 i dont see any signs of life i pull the seed i know its harsh but there are alot of good seeds out there so if it isnt going to pop why waste 5 more days...

Since it doesn't appear to be rotting, maybe your soil i too dry. If you didn't soak the seed prior to planting, it has to get enough moisture from the soil to start it's incredible journey. As long as the seed isn't too wet, it won't rot, but if it isn't wet enough, it won't germ either. Moist, not wet.

Peat pots will wick the water away from the soil. I don't use them, but people that do recommend soaking them before use to prevent this.

Good luck, and I'm stubborn I wouldn't give up until I knew it was done, since I would only be trying something that I really wanted to grow in the first place.

But sometimes best laid plans...often go awry. Then you have to adapt and move on.
