Getting close to start planting some seeds, what are some of the best mixes to use. I am not planting alot of seeds that I can go and get all the different ingredients to make my own, so just curious as which bagged mix is just as good.

Try your local hydroponic stores. just don't forget the sunglasses and don't dress like a cop. Ha. http://www.paradigmgardens.com/hydroponicstore/store/home.php?cat=67

Its been one of my new favorite places with these giant pumpkins coming into my life. My Church is right down the street and I'm always wondering when I'm walking in if someone will see me and say," I didn't know Chris was a pot smoker" :) And Darren, I always dress like a painter and I think they still think that! :)

With the size of AG seeds, the mix can be pretty coarse, but it needs to be light, so no sand and no soil.
Equal parts peat, perlite and vermiculite has been a standard seed starting mix in greehouses for a long time.
Pro mix BX is mostly peat moss and small amounts of perlite and vermiculite.
I use miracle Grow potting mix. it is pine bark, compost, peat moss, perlite, and slow release fertilizer.
I plant 9000 strawberries a year into potting soil that is equal parts peat, pine bark, perlite, and dary manure compost. I then fertilize with 2 cups of poultry litter compost per cubic ft of material or 1 cup per 6 plants. I use the same mix when I uppot to 7 gallon grow bags to get 2 more weeks of warming before the pumpkin plants go into the soil.

"Light Warrior" by FoxFarm. Contains Mycorrhizae, worm castings, humic acid. Extremely light weight and hard to moisten but worth it.

Pretty new here- so take that grain of salt: Jiffy seed starter mix (from what I can find, this is: "A premium blend of sphagnum peat moss, vermiculite and lime...." It needs to soak a bit in water to get hydrated, after which I squeeze out the excess moisture unti it's "sticky".

Just started my pumpkin tonight. Used seed starter mix (peat moss, vermiculite and lime) + mycorrhizae, a pinch of kelp, a pinch of pumpkin power, and my daughters secret ingredient- a pinch of pumpkin pie spice(cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice)

Do you wet all the seed starting mix and squeeze it dry or just drop a couple drops of water on the mix once you push the seed in?

I use pro mix bx. If I could get Jiffy mix at the same price I would use that over pro mix bx.
