I bought organic starting mix that has some pine bark, peat moss, vermiculite, etc... is pine bark bad? Just wondering if this is not good stuff. Thanks Greg

Not sure about the seed starting mix but nothing good comes from having anything pine related in the patch. It really messes with your pH in a bad way! I'm interested to see what more experienced growers have to say about this.

Theres a good chance the pine bark was added to adjust the PH to close to 7.0 . Check the label to see if it states "ph adjusted" .

Why not pick up some good ol miracle grow potting soil or spend a few extra bucks for some promix that will last a few years for those seeds. Keep it warm and moist and any seed should germinate depending on age . Good luck. Carl

ghopson - ahhh that's probably why they added it in. donkin - I wanted to keep the mix organic. i would spend the money if I found a place that carries Promix... The only store around here that carries it is Brew and Grow. Good store but not easy to get there after work. So, I had to use what I have. My seeds are up and I had no extra $ for Promix and so they're in the organic mix now.
Best wishes to you! Greg
