The tips have been removed from 18 seeds. On May 2, 2 tablespoons of liquid Kelp and 1/2 teaspoon of Admire will be added to 1/2 pint of water. The seeds will be bubbled in this solution (fish bubbler) from 5 am to 10 am, put between a folded damp washcloth in a plastic bag over 88 degree heat until 7 am the next morning. They will be planted flat with the sprout end facing North and seed tips aimed in the westerly direction. I will transplant keeping the same orientation to find out what side the first true leaf grows and the direction of the main runner.

My seeds will be planted in a cold frame on May 3. The Squash will be a Hester 895.5 and my 611. The clone is a Hunt 991. To help Joe Ailts with an experiment, I will plant a Stellpflug 730 (96) and a D. Lloyd 650(99) and cross pollinate them. The 650 only has 1 grandparent 4 generations back which is a rare find. That leaves 5 other Pumpkins. I'm putting 1 seed each in for Eaton 1009.5, Calai 846, Wentzell 914, Bobier's 723 and 742. If they all germinate that will be it. I will be planting seeds from 3 others as spares.
