one of my seeds are spliting down the middle what should I do. Thanks cody

I assume you are talking about a seed yu havent started yet and is still in the packet! This is fairly common. If it opens up to the point you can see green tissue, it probably should get planted this spring. Otherwise, it will dry out and won't be much good in the future ( if it will germ at all).
Theres not much else you can do in my opinion

To possibile scenarios:

1.) Seeds that split while drying. Self split seeds often germinate better as moisture has less trouble entering & the coat may come off easier.

2.) Seeds that are split because they had started to germinate before harvesting would be toast. This would likely have been detected during the seed harvest.

Chances are these seeds split while they were drying which is not a problem.

I put in wet paper towel and it started to split down the side and the root is growing out the split.

yes I know its gerninating but the root is going out the top the seed. Its like its going the wrong way out of the shell and the root looks bad.

That's why reason I usually deshell my seeds. Some seeds have real hard shells.
