Josh There are several Websites/Forums that are dedicated to Herbs, i cannot think of the names right now but a Google should find them.

What kind of herbs are you trying to start. Some are easier to root from cuttings than start from seed. Check out growing and selling fresh cut herbs. By Sandie Shores..

I think the best way would be would to pick a group.So if their for cooking ,put in rosemary,tyme,plant in spring ,well drained soil and cut back hard in spring .Try not to cut back and put some big handfuls on spuds(sorry potatoes)or Lamb I do mean big handfuls then roast in oven . Then try some basil. It`s best put in as an annual I put about 3 lots in a year and get some really ripe home grown tomatoes and a young buffalo cheese bit of olive oil sea salt and pepper, Lush. Then fish,you cant go far wrong with fennel or dill.Treat both as annuals fennel bulbs can be roasted, dill ,just rip some of the tops of and stuff them inside the fish.Most important thing to remember is that you use a lot more fresh herbs than you would dried.Herbs big subject but these take some beating
