Beautiful grapes!

This was off an unpruned plant growing up a tree. Growing them up trees seems to work, good production is possible even without growing them on a trellis.

Does anyone want to try grapes without a trellis? My method is to choose a tree I dont like, and plant a grape vine at the base. They are slow to get established, but if you do this now, then in five years or so you will have converted the tree you dont like into a "grape tree". After that, the grape productivity will be good, and you should just care/maintain both trees together as one "grape tree". Its strange but kinda fun. Its surprisingly similar to grafting a good tree onto an undesireable tree.

This one is a table grape, it is growing up an asian pear tree. I think good quality wine grapes can be grown this way using the right support tree. Im using a wild poplar in back for some wine grapes.
