Thats interesting I've not seen one do that, and it was on one of the prettiest pumpkins ever. Thats what scares people with the whole blossom down thing. I think they split on their side just as much or more, but when that happens the grower can see when it happens.

I've grown at least a dozen giants blossom down and this is the first one to split at the blossom on me. You could put your fist through the hole...
