You have to wait til day 20 to name her. It’s a rule.

Porkchop, I guess "Dap 4" wasn´t meant to be the name. (It would have had to read "Tap 4", but why should a pumpkin´s name resemble one´s favorite beer in the nearby bar?) Anyway, I´m sad to say that I violated that rule a couple of times, and I did it again this year. Hope it doesn´t mean anything bad, LOL.

Kidding aside, when I see that little baby pumpkin placed on the styrofoam/sand (which I conclude should now mark the place where and how this fruit is meant to grow bigger and bigger and biggest) I hope that the grower will take care that the pumpkin won´t grow over the vine. In the current situation (main vine running almost parallel to the baby) it would be just a matter of few weeks that the fruit grows over the vine and rips itself off the vine. I prefer to create the S-curve in the vine before I place the pumpkin baby on its final sandy bed. For a little tutorial of how to do the S-curve thing and how it works as the fruit grows, check out my diary from 2014, there is a series of pics with explanations.
