Thanks for the follow up info much appreciated. One thing I have been wondering is... are aphids really an ant problem? I know they have a symbiotic relationship. Are your aphids independent of ants?

I never had ant problems on giant pumpkins but it happens very often on fruit trees like cherry, apples etc... ants are eating the sweet miellat that aphids are producing on the leaves.
