Thank you for the tip. Why do you crack them instead of cutting them off? Thanks!

Please...what is the theory of keeping the tendrils? I've been cutting all of them off for years. Just wondering. Thanks Ian

I also keep my Tendrils and I also bury them to help hold the plant down....that's what they were put on the plant for...to hold it in place. I don't bury vines just nodes and tendrils. Works for me.

I also wait to bury tendrils just before they start to curl if an issue getting to them bury them early..

A tendril is a modified leaf but doubt if it contributes anything to plant growth. My problem with cutting off tendrils is that any cuts on the plant are of course the perfect place for infections to start. If the stem won’t sit down we just bend them up which does crack them. I would say that today I buried at least 50 or 60 nodes and didn’t need to crack any of them.

Thanks Big T and Ian. Since I'm in a greenhouse and bury heavily I don't have to worry about holding the vines down. Will start with keeping tendrils to see what happens though.

Awesome advice, will also help from rolling plants during storms for us outside growers. In the past I have always cut, but it makes sense it could be a possible vector for disease when opened up with a knife every couple feet.

I leave mine on for the exact reason that Luke said ! They are there to help keep the plant from rolling over. if we grew them on our lawns, they would never roll over because they would wrap up in the lawn. plus 3 on letting disease in also.
