Hi all. This is my first year trying to grow a giant pumpkin. I bought some seeds (atlantic Giant) from Walmart and tossed them in the ground. Then I started reading. I probably should have done a bit more planning but here I am. I have two plants going one looks really healthy and has a 200" pumpkin growing on the main vine. THe other plant does not look very healthy, the leaves are smaller, yellower, and further apart. However, this pumpkin is nearly as big. I have not measured it. THe pumpkin on the weaker plant seems to still be growing but the pumpkin on the healthy plant seems to be done growing. It is very orange and has not grown in 3 days. The plant is really throwing out a lot of new vines. Is there any thing I can do to get the plant to work back into growing the fruit?

Although its very unlikely to restart... Pruning the vines could help. Or just let the plant do what it wants... there's till time to grow some smaller pumpkins for Halloween.

Terminate all side and tertiary vines. Too much plant can stunt pumpkin growth Leave main vine or 1 side vine growing. be careful on terminating too many vines at one time. How long is your main and side vines.
Also I would post on the new growers board with your questions, start a diary and provide links to the picture or pictures showing what you have questions about. This is the field pumpkin board and it does not get as much action so you will get more advice on the New Growers thread from some pretty knowledgeable people.

I tried to find the "garden pumpkins" section and didn't realize "new growers' is where I wanted to be. Thanks.
I will move my question over to that thread.
