First question, does anyone know if the size of the flower and baby pumpkin underneath are indicators of a big fruit? Because the ones on my plant are absolutely humongous. Like the size of a beer can with a giant flower on it. I really can’t remember ever noticing really big ones anything like these and I’ve grown some decent FP for many years now.

Second, does it matter as much on FP plants if it is main. One or secondary? I know of many plants producing more than one big fruit which probably means that one of those if fruit were not on the main. My biggest unpollinated pumpkins are on secondary vines. Thanks!

I had 1 plant this year that threw those huge fruit and blooms and also more normal sized ones on the same plant. I'm also interested in that as I've never seen it before either.

I do have some more normal looking ones too. One of which is on the main. Have you grown any out yet to notice any differences you can share?

I had several extremely large baby pumpkins last year. All of them split within a week or two. Might have been another issue than yours though.
Many of the very large ones were grown on secondaries. All of mine are on secondaries this year.

Had one on a main I pollinated but did not take, the other on the first secondary it took but shape was odd so I cut it off. The next one on main was normal sized and it's growing good.

Well the main vine pumpkin didn’t mature so it’s side vines for me anyhow. Hopefully not a sign of some issue brewing.
