Do people put anything under field pumpkins as they grow like the AG people use sand and the watermelon people use plastic shelving?

i'd hafta say there is no difference---if i get to them in time, i use like a 2' x 2' piece of Rigid @ Home Depot 1/2 to 1 inch thick piece of housing insulation, as i would for my AG pumpkins. i gather that all three are a good idea for critter prevention and water drainage: plywood, for flatter pumpkin bottoms and CP; paper mill fabric for CP and ease of pumpkin movement/flatter bottom; sand on top of those to add to all the above and probably some CP (critter prevention) as well. MYYYY material is not widely used, least of all just by itself, but it has never been a disappointment, just, what i could afford and it worked OK for me. plus, it looks neat-o.
