It is possible in about 1 in 100 polenations if the parents are compatible, usually the fruit abort when young. The only reliable way is through an interspecific cross with curcurbit moschata and the field pumpkin and ag. It is a long process.

If you do a search on interspecific cross you will find a lot of information on what is possible. Personally I'm working on crossing AGs into field pumpkins with a butternut type squash. As of last year I have a field pump crossed with a butternut by Ag as the father. plus several (butternut x Ag) X (butternut x field pumpkin) crosses. The Ag didn't work as the female plant for any of the butternut x field pump crosses. The summer I will mass plant the crosses from last year to see the results. My goal is to get a hard stem on a ag sized pumpkin
