Hey guys; I know at least several people grabbed some of those 248 Timm seeds from the Howard Dill site this spring. How are your plants doing?
I know genetic issues are unlikely with a selfed offspring, but I could only get one of three seeds to germinate and have had some issues since. Every set has grown to about baseball size and terminated. The plant itself is huge and beautiful. I've tried slow-dropping phosphorus and potassium in case it was a deficiency or excess nitrogen, but no luck. My AGs on the same plot over the last two years have had no issues setting pumpkins. Thanks!

Have planted the 153 Timm (which basically should be the same, its the same cross and grown on the same plant...the striking difference being the cheaper seeds). Out of the 3 seeds of the package two germinated (one of them pretty late). The stronger plant grows with rather small leaves, seems to have problems developing decent tap roots, and most of the females die before they open. Nevertheless, I´ve got a fruit set on the main vine and its growth looks normal so far. The weaker plant went onto a little compost pile in my garden, it grew a good main vine with stronger leaves, set a fruit and this fruit is turning orange already (about 25 days after pollination). Currently I wouldn´t say that I´m very happy with the 153.

one of two germinated. The leaves are small but the plant grew out nicely. It is just a little sparce looking compared to the others. I have three good kins set on it. One on the main, one first secondary on the right and one second secondary on the left. They are all on DAP 17 ( this plant produced a huge number of females) and the biggest is the one on the main at 119 OTT - 35 lb est. Other two are not far behind.

I couldn't get any to germinate. They were my only germination failures.

I germinated 2 of 3 248's and the same with the 211 MacKinnon also germinated 3 - 153 Timms. Having a tough time getting em pollinated on the 248 pollinated 1 yesterday on a side vine and have one tomorrow on the main hope one of em takes.

Thanks a bunch for chiming in! Finally have two sets on side vines, and maybe a set on the main, that's probably a thousand feet out. Seriously though, at least 30ft. I guess we'll see how it goes down with this seed for the rest of the season.

Gonna have to toss in my support for the 248 Timm in the end. I won the Country Farm and Feed weigh-off with a 98lb FP that was still doing 2lbs a day and was 99% green/shiny. The same plant has another pumpkin that is taping around 95lbs and doing 2lbs a day, as well as a third pumpkin that taped 60lbs before rotting last week. Along with a fourth, smaller one, this plant had around 280lbs of pumpkin on it. Wish I'd got my first set to take instead of praying for a handful of very late pollinations, ha. Either way, seems like great potential if you can get it started and pollinated!
