This will be the first year trying to grow large field pumpkins. Just curious as to if I should do any soil amendments to prepare for the pumpkins. Normally I would just use a regular slow release fertilizer for the rest of the garden. Will this work for the pumpkins or is there a certain fertilizer/amendments for my pumpkin area. Thanks!
P.S. My soil tends to be very clay like, so where I place veggie plants I usually mix in some sort of compost to improve the area.

With a clay soil you may benefit from planing in hills. I would continue to improve the tilth of the soil by working in compost. (like you mentioned) A regular slow release fertilizer will work fine. If you really want to grow a giant one, try growing your field pumpkins with the same techniques that you would use on Atlantic Giant's.
