I figured I'd come and ask the experts if there were any tips or tricks to dealing with some still mostly green field pumpkins in trying to get them orange. I know put them in a sunny warm spot, but there are no sunny - warm or even dry spots here locally right now. I have 5 nice field pumpkins and they're still in the garden amongst their dead plants and vines. It's been raining here since september, and cold and grey days aplenty. Was wondering if there are any other ways to coax a green field pumpkin to turn green? Would placing it in the dark speed up the process? Some people have suggested this, but without the good ole warm sun, I'm wondering what other options there may be?

Place them under clear plastic, if they have some orange. If they are solid green, they will stay green. But you are sort of late if you want orange by Halloween.
