So I added field pumpkins this year and they are doing really well. The mains are at about 8ft and females are starting to show up. I am assuming I should be waiting for a much larger plant to pollinate one? Any advice would be appreciated.

...same here, an FP plant is the new addition to my patch this year. Don´t know much about them so far, but I had read that their fruit growth period is much shorter than in case of AGs. Hence, it will be more important to have a strong plant to boost fruit growth from the very beginning, so that you already have a giant fruit within 4 or 5 weeks (whereas in case of AGs the fun begins after 4 weeks). My FP plant isn´t at 8 ft yet either, so I definitely need to wait for another while. In your case, waiting for another 1 or 2 weeks probably can´t hurt. Good luck!

Thank you, that is kind of what I was thinking. Anyone else, feel free to offer advice. Plants are getting the same love and care as the AG's this year.

Ive found that you get longer growth on fruit set later. That also means a bigger plant.I'm going to try for july 15th before I set any. Also I started later but the plants are really cranking.
