I have read that you really don't want to pollinate a first tress mega. What do you guys think?

I always go to or the first stud mega, I mean first truss mega. But Ithink porkchop likes to let his plants get some size to them before he sets a tomato.

Just to add, it’s not really something “I do”, it just so happens nothing really gets going for me until the plant is bigger. Jacks 10 pounder was grown at the top of a very big plant , off on a side vine….that gives me hope… I’m almost positive I’ve read Dan Sutherland says he’s all about pollinating the first truss mega. Personally , I wouldn’t bother with a first truss mega if the plant was any kind of stunted while young.

I think it takes a healthy plant with good established roots. I have grown 4 or 5 lbs on a first truss. I think Dan MacCoys 8 lber was on a first truss. There's lots of room for improvement in this area. Dan S has shown us this!

Never anything but first truss! If it's not a WR potential blossom the plant gets tossed into the compost bin!I've already tossed two 17.15s in the compost bin!

Do you cut off all the non-mega blooms on the truss leaving only the mega on the truss? I have failed miserably at giant tomatoes the last three years and really paying attention to little things this year. Thanks for all the help.

I leave all the blossoms until they shed their pollen for me then at that point they come off. Not sure if there is a better method.
