So cold early weather is what is responsible for the first flowers potential to form these, or basically its the plant adaption period and after the first few the plant has adapted and the result is no more mutations. My question is.....what if you tortured it with cold water etc? I think an experiment is in order.

I should have never gotten any megablossoms when I was indoor winter growing then...it was always 76-80 in the grow room.

I'm not buying it either. Can't explain why all plants grown in same exact conditions don't produce them. I have no idea what the reason is, but forced to guess, it's genetic and predetermined at seed level.

I think mega blooms are over rated as there are many multi segmented tomatoes that are not in the top of the tomato class every year. With that being said I am guessing the next world record will not be a single bloom. I pollinate every large blossom I get regardless of how many segments and see what it does once it starts to grow.

First year growing these so forgive me. So are large blossoms similar looking in nature just missing the multiple segments, is there a trait you look for that says this single has potential?

Keep an eye out for good blossoms on the secondary growth, it may take awhile for the effect of the cold treatment to show up.

Ok so I am going to admit that this experiment really didn't yield any quality results. I think I need to do this again with multiple plants from different lineage. Recall the clone was from a plant that did not get any megablooms thus I pulled it and started the clone. Nothing ventured nothing gained

… you can sometimes stimulate as an example by cutting back a multi stemmed plant by cutting it back severely.
