I have been exchanging emails with Mehdi Daho. He is 100% organic. We were wondering if Dan S was also. So I emailed Dan and he told me yes he is 100% organic.

What I want to know. How do they control disease and pests? What to do about all the various hickups that most growers reach for a bottle of cure.

Hope they respond. If they do...I hope growers that are curious about 100% organic will ask their questions.

I am not organic with some of the nutrients but have been lucky not to need fungicide or insecticide on the tomatoes. Wish that was the case on pumpkins but seems close to impossible.

First important thing when you are using biological stuff is prévention. Mieux vaut prévenir que Guérir. So you are to anticipate all the problems before they appear. Regarding pest, under tunnel, the classic insects are spidermite when it s hot and dry and aphids. I first use predators. There are now many effective predators for each insects. I apply them well ahead in the season. I also increase the density when all factors are favorable. Savon noir, pyrethre , spice and different essential oils are great too.
Against diseases, main one is PM, Milk, baking soda, aq10, orange oil, bacillus subtilis etc ...and severals stuff that boost the défense of the plant like laminarine, seaweed etc...
All these for giant pumpkin.

For tomatoe, absolutely nothing, I have 0 disease. No mildew cos foliage is not wet under tunnel, no aphids, no spidermites even when it s hot and dry. Plants are very healthy right up to the first heavy frost. Last season, some caterpilars did start to eat the leaves so I sprayed thuriengincis and that was all. I will use pheromones traps to prevent them this new season.
