I am shocked, like a sucker punch to the stomach. Very sad to this community.

Really sad for the community.
My prayers for his family.
His support for the hobby will last for lots of additional seasons.
Hope he´s now in heaven and I´m sure there will be tomatoes.

So many memories of Marv. He was so active here for so many years.

My earliest tomato experiences...reading his book and listening to him insist on keeping the genetic lineage of the tomato accurate. Then completely ignoring his wishes and planting the 3.37(7.33) Rakkas 2013 even though he told me I should throw it in the garbage because it had ancestry unknown.

Then the tomato crosses started happening. Marv readjusted..and sent me some of his attempts at crossing. I am sure anyone that has read this board for long will have memories also. The cucumber board is going to be lonely.

The past few years, Marv has been very special to me. We still had disagreements of techniques, such as needed depth of topsoil, whether it hurts to till so much before the new soil is established, what are the ideal nutrient ratio's etc. But what he always was willing to listen to my viewpoint, even though it might not align with his. And he always offered me encouragment.

I will miss him much.
