I am sorry to inform of you that Minnie passed away last month. For those of you who are not aware, Minnie was the one who developed and introduced Big Zac to the giant tomato grower world. Over the years she won many contests with Big Zac as have some growers since then. I knew her and will miss her. She helped me with the book "Giant Tomatoes" and without her there never would have been a book. She refused to be a co-author. She was a good friend of mine and she will be missed.

Sorry to hear the news. While always inspiring to grow a huge tomato and leafing through the early seed catalogs there was always the picture of the Big Zac and sometimes a picture of Minnie. Thank you Minnie, may she rest in peace.

I am soon to be sprouting some Big Zacs for myself and my cousin, as far behind as that may be; That activity will be ever more meaningful since hearing this sad news. Rest in peace, Minnie Z. eg

This is sorry news. I was going to go another year or ten without any giant vegetables, but I might have to start a big zac in memory. I know I have seed progeny from a Boudyo tomato that was my personal second biggest ever grown. Domingoes suck for me. Minnie raised the level of giant tomatoes greatly. If not this year...then hopefully soon....BigZac, in outdoor sun, CO2, temp controlled. A variety that held the record for so many years, should not fade away.
I will continue to be scarce on BP, until my garden is ready....14,000 sq ft of prime area. It might be 10 years to accomplish but progress is still happening.
ps...the email address listed for me here is no longer being checked...i have a new one, only 4 growers here have my new email....Marv is one of them. I feel so much for you Marv...she was such a friend to you. I hope you know that you are such a friend to me.
