I am sure it will. You might wish to consider whether that is what you want in July. On the other hand you could temporarily warm or cool the soil by watering it.

I have never had much luck painting plastic even when I spend good money on the plastic spray paint. Maybe just buy a 5 gallon black bucket from Amazon and not worry about the paint peeling. If you decide to go that way.

Direct sun on a black bucket will drastically dry out the soil, you may find that its too hot, shade would be better in MHO. Good Luck Paul
