Thanks everyone.

Wixom: I only really made one fundamental change over previous years based on a few observations from last year. The long and the short was bigger healthier plants.

Every year I end up with some dead space in my garden which I always fill-in with extra tomatoes. Last year my biggest tomato came off of one of these, and to be honest the plant was neglected. It got no pruning or fertilizer until September, and only by luck did it not have bad blight.

This year I left the plants alone until the first of August, with the exception of a few fertilizer treatments, a few rounds of fungicide, and blossom picking.

Then I put more effort into them. Pruning, topping, and the like. My plants were way fuller than last year when I pruned all year. I got some nice mega blossoms, half of which I lost due to BER or heat, then just keep the plant healthy. If I found blight, the whole leaf got cut, and after pruning I would treat with fungicide. With more plant to work with, cutting leaves was less painful.

I only did dunkles 3 times, cal mag twice, and compost tea 3 times. The 8.1 DMG was on the healthiest plant i have grown, the 7.72 was going down hill fast so I picked earlier than I would have liked. I have had plants go down that fast in the past, and the fruit is not far behind. Had I not lost the first, I would have pushed a few more days.

The 7.72 was a fill in plant. It os a grand baby from one of my favorite seeds, the 5.68 Porkchop.

One other indirect thing that helped immensely was a Christmas gift from my wife, a Sthil mister/blower. Now I did not use it once on the tomatoes, but I did on everything else. My garden is now about 11,500 square feet and bugs and disease have been a huge problem. Spraying that with a pump sprayer or even the 15 gallon sprayer on the 4 wheeler took a lot of time. I can now do the entire garden in under 1 hour. This gave me time for inspections, pruning, and other activities.

Lastly, a lot of luck. Good big mega blossoms good weather, and motto many problems in the tomato patch.
