Hi all, I am wondering what to do with new growth curling. Is their a deficiency because I am growing in pots?

That can be a really hard problem to diagnose , I also grow in containers and currently have leaf curl , like pork chop said respiration problem maybe do to overwatering ! Also fertilizers , stress , and many other things , but I wouldn’t worry to much they will curl and look ugly but should be fine ! (I hate it ) but I had it all last year and things were fine ! Example I had a extra plant last year ugly duckling I grew of to the side near the woods in the ground ! Under watered , under fertilized paid no attention to also 4 hours of sun , and the deer eat it twice ! By the end of season it was the most beautiful plant I ever remember no leaf curl not a single blemish on it !bye the way it grew my biggest of the year 2 lbs 10 oz ! It was one of my 4 plants .

Sorry I don’t want to give you false hope if this is a bigger problem ! You did say new growth ! Mine is the lower and middle leaves on a foot tall plant ,how big are your containers ? I’d still start with watering , it is truly tough in containers !

Ehh...I wouldn’t start with watering if they are wet at all...I would start with filling the container to the fill line though...pics pics pics...looked great a few weeks ago.

waiting for pics to upload. I suspect it is a combination of a Molybdenum deficiency and too much water causing root rot. I think there is potential that it could be caused by a leaf hopper disease I heard about. hope my pic is uploaded soon by bp. Hard to tell, but pinched off the leaf sets that looked weird and left the ones that where looking better.

So too wet... can u gently tip over the pot and get it to slide out in one piece?...if you can, do it and wrap the ball with paper towel until it dries out....don’t be afraid to repot into less wet medium if it falls apart...what’s your potting mix?... most good potting mixes can and should go quite dry between waterings.

Turns out easier fix: to dry when I looked at it. Easier fix. Still don't know about the leaf curl though. It has been happening for a week.

I noticed one of mine all curled up today. Always thought that was a good thing and gonna lead to a nice mega. Who knows. I’m just dreaming lol.

Haifa says it could be copper. But I thought it indicates sufficient / excess calcium. It does have to do with transpiration. If it's excess calcium maybe that is not a bad thing... As long as you've got enough copper and magnesium, potassium, etc.

I agree. I think it was too much of a good thing. gave 2 gallons of water per pot and now looks normal. Luckily I fertilize every tomato differently, so only 2 were affected. thanks for all of the help.
