How tal should th eplant be, before terminating growth? Some things i have read say 4 feet, others say 6. I have not geown giant tomatoes before, so was wondering how tall. Also how high up should the pollination be?

Nothing to do with how tall the plant is...has to do with when you shut down the veg growth because of a good fruit. Kinda like termination of side vines on pumpkins..the WR plant was shut down by day 16.. it happened to be 5’ tall. Location on the plant for big blossoms is all about what does best in your garden but I think as a rule in the northeast you’ll find bigger fruit higher up on the plant, (3rd truss-ish) with Domingo variety. Good luck...the soil temps are stabilizing here...almost planting time.

I am still waiting a little while to plant outside, as some of the lows are srill slightly below 50 degrees. I was just wondering when to prune the plant to tell it its done.

short answer, by day 15-20 after the blossom opens. Longer answer- last year we grew a really big first truss tomato without terminating the plant, or at least not totally terminating the plant so the jury may still be out on plant “signaling” by terminating the growing tips. Domingo variety is very easy to see what’s what on the plant. Other varieties can get out of hand if you not on top of the pruning. Experiment. I’ve seen lots of little tricks in the journals to trick the plant into a good one. Good luck!!
