This is it!!! The real deal!!. Sign up for the 2020 GIANT TOMATO TEAM COMPETITION HERE!!!!! A refresher- I can’t believe it’s already our third year with this contest...pretty exciting if you ask me. What is it?...first off, this is the biggest tomato competition on the planet. Hands down. I’m not even joking about that. I’ve looked over the roster from the last couple of seasons and can say with confidence that this contest is packed with the best growers in the world. Helping newcomers “ketchup” on the newer methods and feeding programs that are getting results...turning “rookie” growers into local and state champions.( turning former rookies into World champions...just sayin). Gardeners helping gardeners...teaming up to knock heads together to come up with a plan to help you achieve tomato GREaTNEss!!!!.....or maybe just make a giant sandwich. Either way, it’s fun.. So...how does it work?..sign up here with your real name, (or at least email zeke your real name)..,,also post the weight of your biggest tomato grown to date...this will be your official “announcement” that you are entering the DRAFT. Cut off date of April 15th. Once the draft list is complete, teams will be split into three groups as in the past. Last years draft worked out pretty well so we will do it the same way again...will announce the draft day and time soon...hopefully pick a time that can work for everyone. This is great for newcomers to get you teamed up with some really great giant veggie growers! Great trophy’s and cash prizes !!

New this year- there will be an OPEN division where you can make your own team of three...weights don’t matter, location doesn’t matter, just a team of three willing to have some fun and compete!!...designate yourself a team captain and post your team members and “team Name” to enter the Open Division. So join a team and enter your 2 biggest tomatoes for 2020!!!!...you must be entered into this contest to be eligible for the BP.com CUP. !!!!!....good luck everyone ...team slammer is not going down without a fight!!

If someone wants a newbie on their team-I'm game for the contest. I usually grow 25 tomatoes each year, I have never grown one of these crazy mutated flower tomatoes. I do have some big seeds thanks to a few growers from BigPumpkins site I was planning on trying.

What is the point of a regular team competition if you all are stacking the deck with the top growers for an open competition? This takes the fun out of it for the average grower & for the newer growers. Count us out.

Honestly I thought the open division had to adhere to the class A B C grower ratings. Hence our current team has a grower from each- chis (A) me (B) and Kevin (C, rookie grower). I agree with Phil it looks like we might get killed by these teams with top growers on them. But we had already threw our hat in the ring by the time I realized what was happening and I didn’t want to bail out.

Its confusing because there are two separate competitions different trophy prize structure. I vote let Garden Rebel Vice Pres. in charge of one. Porkchop in charge of the other. I need three brain cells to figure this all out but I only have two.

Aww dang it Jane and phil!...sorry to hear this...plenty of time to think about it but I really had to weigh a couple different decisions after seeing how last years contest went. Not only with how the numbers lined up with the results, but also hearing from quite a few that wanted to join early on but maybe not so crazy about the aBC..for whatever reason...I do think this contest is achieving its goals...making new friends...helping out the “brand new guy”...(there was two last year), spreading the word on the feeding/pruning programs and overall boosting weights and breaking records...lots of pb’s last season. I do see what you are saying about the teams, goodbye rebel, porkchop, mobymike, but if you look above you see vtjohn, materdoc, gMay...these are the guys that taught me!!...your name belongs there and I would love to have you in...the draft division pays three places so if you look at the math, and your a new grower , you will still get teamed up with the best...and have a real shot at a prize...do exactly what Jane and phil tell you to do and you could possibly see YOUR name on the CUP!!! Hope this helps!!!!...sign up now!!!!....definitely doing boobie prizes!!!...woohoo!!!...boobies!!!!!!!

Last year was my first year growing and I’m not unhappy with my results. Hey who can complain about Rookie of the Year for 2019, not me. I wasn’t expecting anything but now have a fine trophy for my efforts.
Anyway I’d like to know if there is a way to contribute to the prize pool? Paypal maybe ?

omg people, these are free contests, I cant believe people complain about something that is free! this is all about fun and learning, if your complaining now, I think I don't want to get involved if its going to be a complaining fest over just bragging rights! pull your diapers up and have fun damnit!!! and we don't even have an "A" grower on our open team. gene's pb is 5.14, my pb is 4.46, and ron has never entered a tomato officially.

The top growers may get poached by the open teams. Might look like the toilet paper section of a Wallmart. I like direction of the idea though. Porkchops master plan... Porkchop maybe if too many top growers get poached each open team should take a newbie under their wings. Two entries per grower take the top six entries. Maybe this would satisfy Jane and Phil.

Two entries per grower... four growers... eight total entries... Officially score the top six. Then the newbie can only help not hurt the team.

Just an idea. Let the weakest open teams draft a fourth member first and the strongest open teams draft a fourth member last. Then... We would be back to having one competition and relatively even teams.

To the new Italian growers. Hi and welcome. But I'm confused of your intentions. If your registering a team for the open division you need 3 people on your team. Or are all of you registering for the draft where you will be picked for a team? let me know please
