We’ve all been sharing info for awhile now...started teaming up like the pumpkin growers have done in the past (#teamslammer)...learning from both old and new growers..weights are really starting to increase overall...what’s next?....tomato numbers I’m guessing...if I did any testing last year, which I did not, when and what tests would have been useful in helping others to replicate what’s happening.?..next season..when we grow the 10 pounder...?....I should probably test....just sayin

Finding best soil mix. Good pumpkin soil works well for tomatoes but I think that there is a specific soil formula that works for tomatoes.

Porkchop, you often say " let the soil dry out". Tomato plants don't like their roots too wet. Can you explain? Jim

I have a few ideas:

Maters grown in mater juice!
Maters grown with growth hormones!
Maters grown with nanoprobes to deliver more nutrients to the fruit!
Maters grown with 24/7 classical music!
Maters grown in zero gravity so we can watch 'em float about!
Maters grown with different trimming techniques!
Maters grown with even more nutrients than they have now!
Maters grown for use as an anti-aging mask!
Maters grown in a Tesla!
Maters grown to terraform Mars!

So many mater ideas, so little time!

Yep. I am trying chicken doo as my main amendment this year... Not enough time to try every conceivable thing but its cool that outdoor tomato and pumpkins are both nearly tied with indoor grows. I guess co2 and grafting would be the next steps along with continued selection and breeding. I hope you get into tomatoes suburban... the extra competition would be fun.

Who cares about soil balance just threaten each plant with a some big loppers I think thats a proven strategy check out the latest pic of lambchop and imagine if you were a tomato plant.

Their tomatoes are so large that they need the big 'ole loppers to cut 'em free, lol!

I'm not sure that I have the time and energy to make some sort of greenhouse for the maters this season, I may try for next year. That does sound fun, especially since it seems as though everyone else is growing maters.

Yea wile, we need mater numbers...in particular, Domingo numbers...dang I wish I tested last year. I asked rebel in April if we should and he was like “nah..”...shoulda woulda coulda...
Jim- I guess what I mean about no wet feet is that for whatever reason, these Domingos get stunted when they sit in wet conditions...not that they won’t recover but that little bit of hesitation in growth tells you the roots slowed down..no bueno....that’s during early season...once the plants start setting fruit the area has to dry between waterings...(it’s important with the pumpkins too but they can suck an area dry within a day or two because they feed so heavy, it’s easier to see)....maters, especially this Domingo variety aren’t all that heavy a feeder...could be a week of dry weather or better before they need moisture here in the northeast...what happens if you don’t let them dry evenly?...(which I guess means unevenly watered)..yer going to stunt growth and probably get that “ber” type thing that can happen...try to overcompensate with chemicals and solubles to fix a problem?...fruits will at best slow and ripen early...(yes I can get a Domingo to ripen in 24 days)..anti gravity has been brought up before and I’m pretty sure NASA is on it...music is also one of our secrets...anything 120 beats per min will keep them moving...last year it was Bruno Mars of course and a lot of greyboy all-stars...talk sweet to the water barrel when mixing the Wallace WoW tea ...there is a science behind it...and yes Glenn...lol..my first rule of life...dont piss lambchop off...youch...

You could try growing tomatoes upside down like on that as seen on tv topsy turby thing or whatever it’s called... or get a soil test that might help too lol.
