I had a simple soil test done, any recommendations for amendments? Should I just add the Mn, Zn, B, and low nitrogen?

Where do you live? What is your cation exchange content? What is your organic matter content? What lab did your soil test? I have never seen test results given in the format yours are in.

As per Marv's comment; looks like there may be some other numbers on that pdf that we can't see - eg CeC. It's using the figure in the background to calculate the shortages, but can't see it on that screenshot.

In my opinion the biggest nutrient in growing is soil moisture to much and not enough are problems. Each soil type will be different.

100% on board w bill...eSpEcially with the Domingo variety..think even watering is important?....even Drying is just as important..(in our soil anyway)....don’t overthink Frink...good soil, good seed, good training=big ass mater..Fun stuff...the journal is a little “sciency” for me but love pics...good luck this winter...hope you beat bob

porkchop...you might get Bob to the next level with all these bob comments. In the last year...new marital status, new house, now monday...new job. I have not even started a winter seed yet. I was thinking about saving time and just growing a few plants this winter in 15 gallon soil pots. Without Dan S in the winter competition can anyone else break 2 1/2 pounds. You hinted porkchop that you might try it....do you think you can solve the winter mysteries, or are afraid to try? I still might stick with the 15 gallon plan, if there is no competition that brings me to the next level...but 2 years from now...watch out...i should have all the pieces in place by then...both winter and summer. No offense porkchop....hoping you will decide to make this winter a challenge. Still friends...even though we don't see eye to eye.

Post a picture and make me believe. I would so much love some competition to fire up my winter grow desire. From previous years...I think I have about a month to start to have a chance over 3 pounds. Previous, I could start Jan 1st and reach 2 1/2 by the first day of spring hydro or soil. If I can catch the competitive spirit...what can I do...maybe deep water hydro, with aeroponic on the top of the container with CO2 ? I have all the components already just would have to take to the few days to set them up. Not this weekend...with new job monday...but next weekend maybe...give me the desire to push limits.

facebook...i think I have heard of that...not real sure what it is though. 10 days...I will start my winter grow. Thanks Zeke for the email to give me encouragement. You are a great asset to the tomato growers.

kfrink,I just glanced at your soil test. You should add your micro's that are needed but even more important...you need to kick up the potassium and everything else. What that test is saying is optimum range for all the nutrients is way less than giant pumpkin growing standards. So far optimum pumpkin soil and optimum tomato soil seems close...just a lot less soil needed for tomatoes. Optimum range for P of 4-10, K of 30-55 etc, so low of numbers. This would not grow a 1500 pound pumpkin...need more nutrients. Disclaimer...this is just my opinion...I could be wrong.

Thx,I added some nutrients..wasn't sure at first until I saw your post, gypsum/perlite/compost as well, currently looking into those Micronutrients (Amazon) and will do a new test in early spring before planting.

Use western labs ...the pumpkin test...I think more of us can decipher that test.
