Excellent job with this PC and Zeke.

Got my first official weight this year. I did grow a zacheart last year though. I'm definitely in next time! 5 pounds or bust.

Just seen the latest stats. Whoo-hoo! Congrats all, and for everyone who took part.

I'd like to echo the comment above - a great job organising and keeping track of it all Porkchop & Zeke. Loved getting the updates, thanks for keeping it ticking all thru the season.

A little nervous taking a captain role in my first year doing the competition but enjoyed chatting to Team mates and certainly I wouldn't have tried quite as hard on those end of season 5lb tomatoes if it wasn't for the competition.

A different dimension to growing, so thanks for the opportunity folks :)

Next year I'll definitely get make a matching list of real names and BP names. I was missing weights all year because I didn't know who everybody was.

I don't think it's going to make a difference Porkchop unless we missed some big tomatoes. New stats going out with pounds behind next spot.

I would be up for it next year.
Please announce the winners weights and the top team weights? For the less committed non-particpant / tag-along tomato admirers. . . Please!
Thank you...!

Yes, I agree with SaladDoug. Everything was on time and the updates were great. Zeke’s position as score keeper isn’t as easy as it looks.

Team sLamMer, just as Porkchop predicted when this all started...kicked butt. Even without "Wilson" they would have won by 1.2 lbs.
Materdoc's team #11 with everybody on the team growing near 4+ lb. tomatoes finished 2nd.
SaladGreenSandkins made a late charge with some big maters to finish 3rd.
Team Sauce also made a late move to secure 4th.
Rebel Rousers were ohsoclose in 5th (missed by just .08)
Gmay's team #12 edged out the Canuckle Heads to take the 6th spot.

Rookie of the year honors goes to Bart with a 3.68 lber.

How big a slam... by Team Slammer? Should they maybe get in the pay-per-view wrestling business? Whats their total? ...I am thinking they beat the old rebels 28 lb win in 2018.

Thank you Zeke for a well run tomato challenge. I had a great time chatting with my Slammer team mates all season long. It is getting tougher to compete in the big PUmpkin world and growing the big tomatoes can fill the gardening enthusiasm void. The Cameraderie and friendly barbs are even better than the Orange community. I wont be giving up on the big pumpkins any time soon, but also wont be giving up on the big Maters. I think the Tomato Challenge is what spurred ole PorkChop on to put the hammer down this year. The best Team Chop efforts last year were 5.71 and 5.29! They are GOTY for Sure. They had all the Moons lined up in that Mohawk Valley. If they just had a mediocre season this year and not throwing out those Giant Bomb numbers it is easy to see that the Challenge was up for grabs with almost everyone within a pound or two of each other. It doesn't get much closer than that! I'm looking forward to next year already... its gonna be a long winter.

Any rule changes for next year? Like 3 entries per grower with 1 entry being the "Cross of the Year" like the Big Marley this year? Rule changes can be discussed in the spring chat room meeting.

SaladDoug_UK

I'm good with discussing rule changes per spring. I wouldn't want too many entries to count tho - UK wise, we have to grow in a greenhouse and that means plant numbers are pretty small.

I only have room to grow 5 - 7 plants per year - that's it! I've a few crosses (of my own) I'm keen on trying - so space is pretty limited! One shot or bust if it's a cross - I can't do more than a single pant.

Ned is OK...EShell.....errrrrr...hmmmph, mad scientist grower?..well he is great too, has made me smile many times. Congrats Team Slammer....but even more congrats to all the growers. Thank you much Zeke for sending me the updated stats as they came in.Most teams had 6 weights to make the competition close. I loved to see how my friends are doing. Big improvement over the previous year. It is looking like the team competition is here to stay. Requiring a rule change to include a new cross would be difficult. The breeder would have to figure out how to get seeds to 36+ team players. I think we should keep the new cross competition separate from the team challenge. How many challenges do we have...normal biggest of the year, team challenge, new cross challenge, winter challenge...I am probably missing some. Speaking of winter challenge...I need to start some seeds soon...starting new work in a week has distracted me from my mission in life. At least I have until the end of december to get it going....Heat in grow area is a benefit.

Congrats to Team Slammer!
Congrats to Zeke for a lot of work riding herd on which growers had weighed what.
I had a great time growing this year & a lot of the credit for that has to go to my teammates, we texted all season long.
And Porkchop, watch out next year!
I think a lot of growers are going to be gunning for you, lol!
