I was there. With the 10 pound challenge rules they quickly seized the tomato before anyone could take a picture and cut it up for seeds.

I thought you were joking around after everything that was said about Rebel's and Porkchop's large tomatoes. It must be a entry error.

Wow; I'm desperate to see pics and hear more, but social media channel and others seem super quiet. Love to see any pics.
But Larry - congrats that's one heck of a tomato and must have been nerve-wracking bringing it across the line and even just getting to the venue!!

I wasn't there but I think his 7.18 is a real number. He sent me a picture of that one a bit before the weighoff. It weighed 7.38 when picked. 7.18 is still a big tomato, even though he seemed disappointed it was not his personal best. Congrats Larry, who is going to explain this 12.1 pounder?

So entry error. I seen it on the tomato category here on BigPumpkins and was surprised to see nothing about it.

What! I wonder if Porkchop saw this before any of the explanations started to come in? The person that entered the data must be lol.

Mobymike sent me the link last night and my first thought was wow, I’m pretty sure we can get to 10 or 11 lbs next year but 12!!!!???...that’s awesome!!!...what a monster!!!!...then my heart sunk...then I realized qtip wasn’t texting me to rub it in, must be fake news...the misuses is away for the weekend and I sent her a screenshot of the standings...she’s devastated...lmao...she got some impromptu cancer survivor award last night at a banquet and they also announced her growing a new record tomato....hahahahahaha...(serves her right for skipping out on the garden clean-ups)...lol....poor lambchop

Congratulations if it’s true! But it was “seized” for seeds right away like a pack of wolves devouring a fresh kill? C’mon. There should of been photo’s and links lighting up the board this AM after an historic event like that.

All tomatoes to be eligible still must follow tomato entree rules providing all the information required as listed in the early tomato weigh off rules.
The GPC reserves the right to verify all fruits submitted at all GPC competitions. Data listed on BP is not a Final listing until the GPC reviews and approves.

Larry, you better cash Eddy's check quickly. Today at Anoka, I chatted with a few growers that were at Gale Woods. They do not know what happened. Some of them were unaware that weight was even officially entered. One hypothesized that someone added his two weights. But the two weights added are 12.36. I think the 10 pound challenge has yet to be broken. Question for wizzy...If a grower sees something entered that does not seem correct, pumpkin, tomato or any other category, what is the proper way to dispute it?

Here's a link to my diary showing Larry Hill's supposedly 12 pound tomato on the AG scale. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=310356

Just got home. I didn't have my password to respond to the mistake. Don't know if it was a fat finger mistake or a hoax. Fun time at Gale Woods, even with the weather. Maybe next year.

Just seen the picture of the tomato on the scale. We actually used the official scale in Gale woods store. We were just testing the accuracy of the pumpkin scale.

Apologies to all who may have been discouraged to grow tomatoes next year ... Between the driving rain, 50 degree weather and 30 mph winds along with the pressure to get results online ASAP (I can still to this day hear Don's voice..) I erred with Larry'entry as I couldn't feel my fingers ... #'s have been corrected .. Have a great rest of the year .. Joe
