I have been working with the GPC for a planned tomato only weighoff on Sept 7th. It will be held at my new property. I have plenty of parking area. Thinking somewhere around the fire pit could be a fun place for growers to chat and get official weights. No cash prizes but GPC ribbons should be awarded. Thinking could set up for bbq and who knows what else. I am looking for any local growers that might be interested and have an idea how to set up a fun social event. Social events are not my strong point.

The sponsoring organization for this event is GiantTomato.org . Wow, having an event even before they know who they are....

volunteers and growers....I am shipping tomorrow...about 10,000 seeds to Joe Ailts of the SCGA. I have not started any competition plants yet. There is still time to start. It does not take a 10 pound tomato to enjoy the fun. Thanks for the positive feedback..both here and private email. Working thru the details with my daughter...she lives with me too...she is supportive...hopefully it will be fun and something to grow upon.

Thanks for those that have volunteered to help..I think we can do this. It is a bit of time before we have to make more plans but I will be in touch. Growers in the area...if you are interested, but don't have the seeds to start send an email to myself, Joe Ailts or wile coyote. We can get you something to grow.
