No, just using the same old techniques and hope for the best. I wonder if Sutherland uses it. We may never know.

Here is how dan sutherland grew some of his tomatoes. Do you think he used co2 ???

Wouldn't be surprised if he did. Wow! A rare photo indeed!

No. But I would not be opposed to some accidental CO2 if I put a pvc hoop up... the decomposition of organics in the soil can raise. . . Even double the CO2 levels? But CO2 does some strange things like reduce the number of stomata in the leaves. As for what Dan does I think he is smart and careful more than fancy or tricky. He has a good climate... Full sun every day... He starts them in the spring when its not too hot. I may be 100 percent wrong maybe he intentionally uses CO2. Stomata close at night or during the day? ...I know way too little.

We can learn a lot from that photo. He doesn't top his plants and uses a greenhouse with ventilation. Drip lines and overhead watering/folier feeding.

That's right. Your garden is off the grid, no power source to run a fan.

Desert climate his plants get cool at night and his growing conditons must be in addition to full sun very favorable during the day. Hard to boost CO2 when you get too hot but I guess there are a few hours in the morning when it could help. I guess manure tea plus the clear blue sky and other carefully aquired knowledgde is working for him. I am mostly envious of the brightness he gets out there. I have learned a lot from the other 8lb. grower diaries I think if we look at everyone who is at 6+ lbs and piece together what works... Or piece together what does not work by looking at poor results... We can be competitive with Dan. Will he hit 10 lbs this year? Is he growing this year? 10 or more lbs is certainly possible and I am sure we can achieve it... without his help.

Here is another picture of roots growing out of leaf stems on dans plants. So with humidity that high he definitely grew them in a greenhouse.

I see lots of mulch in his diary. Is that straw or wood in the last diary entry? Clearly Dan is cool...

His tea bubbler looks like a NASA rocket fuel setup. Dan is too awesome.

CO2 can only be used in a greenhouse with airconditioning.
Roots from the upper parts of the stem depend to plant condition not only high humidity in the air. I had it at several plants outdoor last year.

Yeah, roots like that might develop as a result of foliar feeding/watering... I expect that would be the cause rather than just humidity.

I think tomatoes are known to like higher levels of co2 - and also in closed spaces co2 levels can drop beyond even normal levels.
Ways to raise it include using your propane heating tank tank, myco bags - but things like Lithovit & Megagreen aim to raise it via coverage on leaf and from within the stomata.
I’m not sure what level litjovit and megagreen raise it to in ppm levels tho. But i’m guessing higher than air. A co2 ppm meter won’t help confirm levels there.
