I am trying to decide if it could be possible to keep my megamutt in storage for a fall weighoff. I am wondering, what is the longest the growers here have kept a tomato in cold storage where it was still sound. The longest have gone is about 2 1/2 weeks and that was just for seed harvest.

The damaged one I brought to Gale Woods was 3 weeks. 2 1/2 weeks is probably the max.

Larry, how ripe was it when you picked it?

Put it in the wine cooler. Keep an eye on it. If it looks like it is starting to fail, weigh it. What do you have to loose? A couple oz.'s.

It was a little past the blush stage.

I believe G May kept 1 in the crisper drawer of his fridge for at least 3 1/2 weeks although maybe he could confirm that. I think he said that he wiped it down with peroxide daily.
