I am looking for alternative tomatoes now that my best one had a separation-from-stem issue. My end rot one on my 8.22 seems to be growing and the rot seems to be peeling off with healthy tomato under dark skin. The rot hasnt gotten worse. Can they grow out of blossom end rot if its not really rotten and the discoloration is only skin deep? I guess I will find out but thanks for any replies. I had totally written this tomato off but left it on for lack of better alternative ones. I will try to get some pics up by tomorrow...

I have one i will take a picture of tomorrow that survived blosom end rot but it will turn earlyer because of it and it may it 3 lbs. But most wont survive !

At the first sign of BER I put Sulphur powder on the site and pat it into the crevices at the bottom. I try to keep the tomato dry. The BER stops and turns to a dry scab. I too have had trouble with BER on the 8.22 and Domingo's in general. A fist size 8.22 got BER last week after a good watering. I put sulphur on it and sprayed Calcium carbonate on the plant and it stopped in its tracks emmediately. Good luck.

Now, every case is different. Believe me, it doesn't always work this way. You have to catch it and treat the tomato and plant early. Cruise the garden and inspect every tomato and plant on a daily basis at least! If you see BER get on it. Once it starts running through your tomato its too late. You lose, BER wins.

I thought it was always fatal I am interested to see if this one ripens with no issues... It looks fairly good now. The 8.22 is awesome I just left the drip line on too long one day. ...Thanks.

you can see where I used a solution of Calcium Chloride on the BER on my Megamutt indoor grow plant. it turned into a nasty looking scab but the integrity of the tomato was still there. Not very appetizing tho. that was sprayed as soon as I saw the tell-tale light brown streaks on the tomato. I spritzed the tomato and foliage after lights out.
