Dan replied to my email and gave me a little info.

Here is the picture of his beauty:

He also told me that it was not grown directly from the 6.83...instead is grown from a tomato that was grown for seed from the 6.83. So the 8.48 is actually 2 generations from the 6.83.

Congrats Dan. You must be doing something right. Your tomato will be really hard to beat this year. I, for one, am ready to concede. You are definitely the one to beat. I can't help but feel that your weight will most likely hold up.

I think you are tossing in towel too fast Marv. It is true there has never been a season with more than one 8 pounder grown. But it is still very early....and I know of a few growers that have some big ones growing.

Esheel, I havent asked about the number of fused yet. I hope to get the measurement and mfactor information. I also am somewhat curious what truss that it was grown on.

What determines your mfactor ?
Shape ?

It is taking three measurements on the tomato multiplying them and then multiplying that result by the mfactor for the weight. M1xM2xM3xmfactor = weight. The mfactor is a measure of density. My tomatoes tend to run about .048, Dan’s tends to run closer to .06. So for the same volume his weigh much more than mine. I have been trying to figure out why for the past two years. Even Dan I think does not know why he gets such good density numbers as compared to mine. Whatever is different in his setup definitely works.

How does you determine your density?

Congrats Dan.
Yes would really like to know what truss. As for density... Does it help to use heavy water from Hanford... Uranium and plutonium are the micronutriemts he uses most --ha ha.
