On Giant Tomatoes, can you expect megablooms on trusses other than the first? Just a lower percentage/ chance? Any difference in quality?
Megablooms on four plants , but my single MegaZac is coming on for 2 or 3rd truss with nothing but normal flowers so far.
I’m going to let a side vine grow too now to double my chances.

Yes you can get megablooms on later trusses - As far as a percentage, I don't know....I've had several mega blooms on later trusses....I know some guys that won't set on the first truss and pluck all the blossoms off as soon as they see them....you need to find out what works for you in your area...I have had the most success on the 1st -3rd with my soil and weather....good luck - hope that helps

I’ve got nice MB’s on the first Truss of 2 plants. I’ve got 6 plants that didn’t have any thing worthwhile on the first truss. I’ve got one plant that hasn’t thrown a blossom yet and is approaching a third truss. I have one that is only throwing singles on its first truss, but last year the same seed line threw a first truss mega the size of a golf ball. I think weather plays a part in what the plant does. I also wonder if it’s the stage the plant is in when it produces that first truss.

By stage of growth,I mean how long has it been in the ground and established a root system.

Thanks all.
Cheers for the into Q tip - first year growing (giant) Toms so it’s a little experimental as yet as to what works best long term. Having some on first truss already and hopefully one on a later truss, at least will give some info for future years!
ESheel31 - yes, sure it’a part environmental and as you say, stage of growth will influence. Part chance too! Safety in numbers, which we don’t always have the room for in the quantities we’d like. :)

Wih the upper flowers one flower out of the bunch will usully be larger. I pluck the other smaller ones off giving that larger one more energy. You'll be surprised. That larger one might end up with 2-3 flowers in there. I grew two tomatoes over 6 bls last year that way. In my opinion, although the first truss megabloom flowers are cool, they are more hype than anything (except for Dan McCoys 8.41). Most of the largest ones are up higher. Good luck.

Thanks for that Garden Rebel, gives me hope it’ll all come good on one of the later trusses as well! :)
