Hello. Has anyone didgrew any giant tomatoes using organic fertilizer. If so how would you relate to the effects it has on the growth of the tomato and the production. Thanks.

I am using total organic for the winter grow and they seem to be doing well. Was able to get a tomato set so nutrients were ok levels I would say. You can see the current progress in my growers diary. Now to see if they get any size to the tomatoes. That will be the final test. I don't expect massive size for indoor growth but hopefully decent growth.

I’ve got many to over four pounds using organic but only grow a couple per plant so not sure about production...seems you might want to use some readily available chemical nutrients if you wanted to get lots of them...if growing for size, consider that the pruning is almost as important as the food you give it...good luck..

The use of fertilizer, in my opinion, is to make up for things lacking in your soil. If your garden is low in macronutrients (NPK) or micronutrients (Fe, Zn, Ca etc) then you need to add nonorganic fertilizers to make up for that lack. I do not grow totally organic relative to fertilizers, though my soil checks out very well, more or less as an insurance policy in case something needed is missing. After all the work that goes into my garden, I am just unwilling to take that chance.

I am totally non-organic. I use so many hydro nutrient solutions that I can mix up any NPKCaSmicro ratio that I want. My newest grow environment( aeroponic)..is totally not organic friendly. Clogged nozzles is death to the plant. I happen to think that plants don't care if their nutrients come from organic or chemical sources. Microbiology might care..but the way I am growing for the future is for total control of ratios.
