I have been intrigued by the possibilities of the wixom crosses. In my garden i have four 6.23 megazacs, four 3.77 wixom-slammers and two each of the megamutt Z and the megamutt D. So far, my observation has been that the second generation F series has not shown as much diversity as I had expected. Every 6.23 that I have has shown to grow tall, wide nodal spacing, with a single or a small double first truss blossom. They are the tallest maters I have in my garden. The 3.77 wixom slammer offspring is consistent with a triple or better 1st truss mega on a double vine to blossom, size of the plants are also consistent. Shouldn't these second generation plants show more variability? The megamutt z and d's that I have growing are putting out double 1st mega's...they are not anything real special but certainly growable. Would love to know how everyone else is doing with 2nd generation wixom crosses..and also with the megamutts...that is this year challenge plant.

Topped my 6.23 at five feet. Got what appears to be a double going. Only singles on the first 2 trusses. Had something at the third, but it didn't take. Nothing but singles on the 6.13.

It's late and I'm a couple of wine glasses under so just trying to remember from my current mind. The 4.24 Spaziani Slammer and 4.30 Megadom are forming nice 2-3 fused pollinated fruit. The MegaMutt Z and D, I have one of each. They both have "curious" fruit. They have 5-6 fused fruit situated in a perfect circle. One is 5 dap about the size of a quarter. One is about 2 dap. They both look the same and are, I would call flat, not deep. Symmetrical. Interesting. Not sure how it would grow out. Not sure what parent this resembles. The 6.23 Megazac. I have two. One is a sprawling plant I am letting grow, hoping to find that 2-3. I have a few that took and may grow out a 2-3 fused, maybe 3 pounder. The other 6.23 is similar to its parent in my opinion, although the stem is not as big. But either way, I will not need support for this stem at this point. It is a 5 fused that all pollinated at the same time and expect it to go big. Big for me is breaking 5 lbs, finally. This Wixom cross stuff is fun for me. Not sure what you will get. Like Forest Gump once said, Chris's crosses are like, "a box of chocolates", you don't know what you will get.

My 6.23 is an open airy plant, branches spaced quite a ways apart, throwing only singles,no doubles or anything, plant is about 6 feet high, and has been terminated,I'm considering pulling it.

That is interesting...7 of 8 of the 6.23 plants sound very similar in growth pattern with the exception of one of Garden Rebel's. Hope you grow it big Rick, that may be the mater that keeps the MegaZac line going. I am going to have to go out and check my megamutts again...the blossoms are so young I might have missed the circular blossom. Thanks for the replies everyone.

I planted (2) 6.23 megazac's (3) 6.13 megazac's and all 5 plants had a nice megabloom on the first truss. Also my 2 megadoms had nice megablooms. I had (5) 5.91 Domingos 2 had nice megablooms but neither on took and singles on the other 3 ? Now with my second crop of gaint tomatoes the plants looked nicer but only half o if the plants are growing a megabloom on the first truss ? So far my best plants on my second crop are crosses from Dale thurber. I have (2) portugese x 6.51 delicious cross both having large megablooms going. I will have to have Dale give it a new veriety name if they become successful !!!

I have a nice fruit on my 4.53 Wixom in my front container which I pollinated straight with itself. Do you all pick off all blossoms right away? What if there is another good fruit also growing? My first is just under chest height and doing well, but I also see a nice cluster of blossoms just above. Should I cut those off now? Please, look at my diary. I plan to post more photos today. I found leaf roll on my back tomato plants and one of them is the 4.53 Wixom. I am really bummed!
