Our plant only has one flower on it where there should be a cluster of flowers. Is this a different variety than Del or BZ?

Hard to say. I would wait and see what the next cluster is like. What do you think the name of the seed is?

If this continues throughout the whole plant I would think it is a genetic fluke ? I have one plant right now that all the flower sets are dwarf. Even the plant is slightly dwarf.i have been waiting to see if it would change but it hasn't. I will probably pull my plant soon.

Hi Guys
All I know is name & the weight of the mater. I looked back into the GPC results & found that Teresa Weston grew/weighed it in 2014. It was grown from the 3.99 Weston, which means nothing at the moment. I have 2 of them growing & both have only 1 flower. Any info would be gratefully appreciated.

Phil and Jane, I think the only way you will get a good answer is to somehow contact Teresa Weston and find out exactly what the seed you are growing is. I believe the best seed ancestry now is the one here on BigPumpkins from the GPC weighoffs. And if the seed history is not listed there the only way to get it is from the grower, if they know. As time goes by and good records are not kept by growers, this will become more and more of a problem. Pumpkin ancestry has been well documented. Tomato ancestry not so much. Good luck. Sorry I could not help. My advice, too late now of course, is to grow only well documented seeds.

I usually always grow well documented seeds, but I threw a couple of these in assuming they were BZ. I'll try to contact her or Cecil & see if they can shine some light on it's variety. If I find out, I'll post it here.
On a good note, we have a nice megabloom on it. :o)

Well after a little research, I discovered it was a Big Zak. The 4.17 Weston, was grown from a 3.99 Weston.
The 3.99 was grown from a 4.20 Lyons.
The 4.20 was grown from a 4.25 Lyons.
Chris Lyons has grown in our back field for 4-5 years now, so I asked him yesterday, when he was up working on the plants.
I'm not sure why both plants only had 1 blossom on the 1st truss, but the 2nd plant has 4 blossoms in the 2nd cluster. The plant with the megabloom has been trimmed back & terminated, so hopefully all growth goes into the fruit.

Chris Lyons just called & said he made a mistake. He looked into his records & the 4.25 Lyons was grown from the 5.0 Timm. As some of you know the 5.0 Timm grew our 7.33, so that would make it a delicious.
Hopefully in the future all growers will report the variety when they register their tomatoes for the weigh offs.
